The Problem with Shelters
![]()
One of the cat shelters I worked for was a wonderful place. They took in feral kitties, gave them all the proper medical attention, gave them a practice run with foster parents, and then adopted them out to others. The only problem was that the woman who ran the place was too selective about adoptive parents — not in her adoption rules, mind you. But because she got too close to a few of the cats, none of the prospective adoptive families was “good enough” for those unlucky felines. So they lived in the shelter much longer than necessary.
