To Brush or Not to Brush

Funny how cats all have very distinct personalities, like people. I have two long-haired mutts. Bob loves to be brushed — he actually gallops over to you if you have the brush in hand. I’m sure it feels like a massage. Benway, on the other hand, HATES it. He gets many more mats because we can’t brush him. He hisses if we try. How are your kitties on being brushed?

My two cats would be okay with being brushed, if I were okay with giving up my hand. Uh, no. So, although I would love to in order to keep the shedding down, I can’t! Not without a suit of armor.
I am a cat lover, too! Great question.

We have six wonderful kids-uh-cats. They are all in varying states of mind about being brushed. One will absolutely not tolerate it and runs if he sees the brush in your hand! One is absolutely in love with it, and rolls over on his back to have his stomach brushed when he sees you coming. The other four all tolerate it to varying degrees, depending on their moods.

Yep — all different. Just like people. Thanks, Gayle!

If you were ok with giving up your hand, eh? Glad you liked my question, Polly!
